A RAILROAD accident claimed one life in Bratislava on October 4.

A train belonging to the RegioJet private railway carrier killed one person on Monday afternoon between Bratislava’s Nové Mesto and Podunajské Biskupice stations.

Traffic on the track was interrupted for two hours following the accident.

The victim was not identified after the accident. He walked into the path of the train from a distance of about 30 metres, police spokesperson Karina Považanová said, as reported by the TASR newswire.

“As a result of the collision the man suffered devastating injuries of different parts of his body, which according to the doctor’s statement killed him on the spot,” Považanová said, as quoted by TASR.

The police has launched a criminal prosecution in the case.
