THE BIGGEST internet shop in the world, Amazon, might change its plan to build giant distribution centres in the Czech Republic, the Sme daily reported.

Amazon originally planned to construct the centres in the Czech Republic, close to Brno and Prague, but now the developer company CTP admitted that bureaucratic hurdles in the Czech Republic might result in Amazon withdrawing its plans and locating the distribution centres in Slovakia or Austria instead, according to Sme.

The requirement for the location is closeness of a bigger city and highways, and available buildings with storage space of about 100 square kilometres each.

Every new centre could bring 1,000 new jobs, according to Sme.

The most ideal locations in Slovakia would be near Martin and near Prešov, according to Martin Fodor from the Slovak branch of CTP, as quoted by Sme.
