More tourists visiting Slovakia
9 Dec 2013 Flash News
ALMOST 3.2 million tourists from within and beyond the country chose Slovakia as their holiday destination in the first three quarters of 2013, which constitutes a rise of 7.9 percent year-on-year, Transport Minister Ján Počiatek informed, as reported by the TASR newswire.
Additionally, as many as 1.34 million foreign tourists, a rise of 10.1 percent y/y, visited Slovakia over the period under review, TASR wrote.
This increased interest also translated into higher incomes in the tourism sector, which went up by 8.5 percent to €1.45 billion.
“We’re pleased by the continuing increase in visitor rates from neighbouring countries, such as Hungary, Austria, Germany and Ukraine,” Slovak Tourist Board (SACR) head Marta Kučerová said, as quoted by TASR, adding that the number of tourists from Russia has also been increasing.
