Slovak to fly into outer space
9 Dec 2013 Flash News
ANOTHER Slovak, Róbert Vokál, a 26-year-old native from Bratislava, will make the trip into outer space next year. He was selected among 23 applicants in Space Camp tests in Orlando, Florida, within the Axe Apollo Space Academy (AASA) project of the Space Expedition Corporation, the SITA newswire reported.
Vokál will be flown on board the suborbital space ship Lynx. He will be the second Slovak in history to travel into outer space.
The first Slovak astronaut, Ivan Bella, did so in 1999. His mission, which fulfilled a childhood dream, took him to the Russian space station MIR, which led to his joining the top ranks of the Slovak Air Force.
