Ballet:
SWAN Lake, the classic ballet by composer Tchaikovsky and choreographer Marius Petipa, rarely disappears from the repertoire of most ballet ensembles. It is on the Slovak National Theatre’s schedule, and on January 15 at 19:00, it will offer the staging of choreographer Rafael Georgi, conducted by Martin Leginus and performed by Romina Kolodziej, Orazio di Bella, Adrian Ducin, and others. Operný galakoncert / The Opera Gala-concert – Top soloists of the Slovak National Theatre (Adriana Ko-hútkova, Terézia Kružliaková, Ľudovít Ludha, Peter Mikuláš, Martin Malachovský and Filip Tůma), conducted by Peter Valentovič, will perform famous arias from operas and operettas, with famous pop singer Peter Cmorík making a guest appearance. EXHIBITION:
LAST Folio is the photo exhibition of Canadian-based Slovak photographer Yuri Dojc that explores the fragments of Jewish cultural heritage in the country of his ancestors (and some findings which are directly connected to them). Dojc’s photos revive the fates of his parents, grandparents as well as strangers, and depict desolate, abandoned synagogues and Jewish cemeteries. The exhibition has travelled through numerous countries and can now be seen, until January 28, in the Jozef Kollár Art Gallery (co-organised by the local Slovak Mining Museum) in Námestie sv. Trojice 8 in Banská Štiavnica. The gallery is open Monday through Friday between 9:00 and 16:00 and the admission fee is €1-€2. More information can be found at www.muzeumbs.sk.
