Presidential election to cost almost €11 million
13 Jan 2014 Flash News
TAXPAYERS will end up paying €10.78 million for the upcoming presidential election, according to a proposal drafted by the Interior Ministry that has been submitted for comments.
Of the total, €9.74 million should be covered from Interior Ministry coffers and the remaining €1.04 million from the budget of the Statistics Office. The sum already includes expenditures associated with a potential second round of the vote, which will take place if none of the candidates manages to gain a simple majority in the first round.
The aforementioned sum is slated to cover expenditures on organising procedures, on materials and technology. It should cover the activities of the Central Election Committee and individual district committees, as well as the cost of processing the results of the vote.
