US Vice President Joseph Biden on January 15 called Prime Minister Robert Fico, in attempt to evaluate developments in US-Slovak relations since Fico’s visit to the White House last year.

The pair mostly discussed security matters, with Biden stressing Slovakia’s effort to accept increasing responsibility for international events, while highly praising the ongoing deployment of Slovak army in the ISAF operation in Afghanistan, the Government Office (GO) wrote in a press release.

During his visit to the White House, Fico invited Biden to Slovakia. His visit could be organised during the international security conference Globsec (Global Security Conference) in Bratislava [in mid May], or during the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the national resistance against fascist regime during World War II, the Slovak National Uprising-SNP [in August], the GO wrote.
