Dominika Cibulková is the first Slovak tennis player to make it to the singles’ finals at a Grand Slam tournament. On January 23, she beat Agnieszka Radwaňska of Poland in the semi-finals of the Australian Open in Melbourne. She won in 70 minutes, by a score of 6-1, 6-2, the TASR newswire wrote.
Her next match is the morning of January 25, against the World No. 4 – China’s Na Li. Cibulková’s best result so far was reaching semifinals at the French Open in 2009. Cibulková already has secured a bonus of AUSD 1.325 million and 1,300 points for the World Tennis Association chart.
After her semi-final victory, Cibulková said she herself was surprised by the good start to the match, but added she felt full of energy and tried to play actively.
