Gabriel Geško, the district prosecutor of Velky Krtíš, has resigned following a recent accident when his friend shot him in his ankle in a car, the Sme daily wrote, quoting the General Prosecutor’s Office.

Geško rode in a car January 23 along with his good friend, businessman Alojz Z. and two police bodyguards whom he got as protection after several attacks on his property last year. One of the bodyguards drove, while Geško and Alojz Z sat in the back seat. When driving along the municipality of Seľany, the friend pointed a gun at the driver and forced him to stop. When the prosecutor, and the bodyguards started to fight with him, the gun went off and injured Geško’s ankle.

The General Prosecutor’s Office informed on Geško’s resignation, but without giving any reasons or informing on whether alcohol was a factor in the incident. The Banská Bystrica Prosecutor’s Office doesn’t see any connection between the last week’s incident and incidents from last year when one of Geško’s cars was set on fire and another was damaged by a mattock in the roof, Sme wrote on January 30.

Píšem or pišám?

"Do ľava," (to the left) I yelled, "Nie, do prava" (no, to the right), I gasped. "Dolšie," I screamed. "Nie, nie, horšie..." My Slovak girlfriend collapsed in laughter. Was it something I said?
