Slovakia used just 51 percent of EU funds available for 2007-13, so far
6 Feb 2014 Flash News
Slovakia, at the end of 2013, had drawn €5.8 billion from the EU’s structural funds, which represented 51 percent of the overall amount allocated for 2007-13, according to a report approved by the government on February 5. However, an extension from Brussels will help the country draw more.
The EU granted an exemption to allow Slovakia to draw funds allocated for 2011 and 2012 until 2015, instead of 2014. “This has almost eliminated the risk of being unable to draw funds from the EU for 2013,” reads the report as quoted by the TASR newswire. Slovakia failed to draw a significant amount only from the Education Operational Programme - €13.7 million.
