Survey: 58 percent of Slovaks earn less than average monthly salary
23 May 2014 Flash News
WHILE the average salary in Slovakia stands at €859 per month, the median level is 9 percent lower than that and 58 percent of people earn less than the average. This is according to a new survey on platy.sk.
The lion’s share of people earn between €501-700 per month, with those in the €701-900 bracket coming next.
“The number of people earning more than €900, €1,100 and €1,300 is then dropping... One in 10 people in Slovakia currently make more than €1,500 per month,” platy.sk project manager Miroslav Drávecký told the TASR newswire.
Meanwhile, three quarters of people in Prešov Region earn less than €900, while 44 percent of those living in Bratislava Region are paid over €1,100. Moreover, it turns out that the gap between the average and the median salary is the widest - 14 percent - in Bratislava Region.
Less than one in five people in the Prešov and Banská Bystrica regions earn over €1,100. The ratio shrinks further when it comes to salaries topping €1,500, as only 5 percent of people in Banská Bystrica Region and 4 percent of people in Prešov Region earn more than that per month.
