THE RINGLEADER of a the Bratislava-based Piťovci organised crime group, Juraj Ondrejčák (nicknamed Piťo), was sentenced to 18 years in jail by the Specialised Criminal Court in Pezinok on May 26.
Piťo was convicted of leading a criminal group, possessing illegal firearms and damaging the property of others. Another 13 people were sentenced alongside him, the TASR newswire reported.
Piťo is to serve his sentence in a maximum-security prison. His right-hand man, Matej Salaga, nicknamed 'Gaťa', was sentenced to seven years, while Miroslav Abraham, nicknamed 'Floxna' and 'Little Boss in Bratislava', who was responsible for the gang's drug-trafficking activities, was sentenced to 23 years in a maximum-security prison.
The 'Piťovci' group was formed in Bratislava's Lamač borough in the late 1990s, when other gangs were already on the scene in the capital city. They became known for wearing Thor Steinar and Alpha Industries brand clothing. They were organised in a military manner, and one of their trademarks was the use of Mercedes G cars, TASR wrote.
