Albrecht House concertAround Slovakia
9 Jun 2014 Compiled by Zuzana Vilikovská Regional News
THE RENOVATION of a house with a unique history and atmosphere, which used to belong to the Albrecht family, has been underway for four years. The quiet, inconspicuous house at Kapitulská 1 in downtown Bratislava was once a focus of art, cultural life and above all music.
In the past, composer Alexander Albrecht (1885- 1958) and his son Ján ‘Hanzi’ Albrecht (1919-1996) were visited by many period cele-brities: Béla Bartók, Eugen Suchoň, Ľudovít Rajter and many other artists, authors, friends and students. Thanks to Hanzi Albrecht, a music theoretician and instrumentalist, the first ensemble to play early music, Musica Aeterna, was established here. The house on Kapitulská was open to anyone interested in arts.
More recently, the Albrecht Forum initiative aims to lend a helping hand in reconstructing and reviving this old tradition, the organisers informed. On June 14, at 19:00 in Moyzes Hall on the Vajanského Nábrežie embankment, a benefit concert to collect money for the house’s reconstruction will be held. Musica Aeterna, led by Peter Zajíček, will perform, with Slovak soloist, soprano Martina Masaryková. A tic-ket equalling €50 can be bought via albrechtforum.eu (email@example.com), 0908/709-895 or at the door.
