9 Jun 2014 Flash News
PRIME Minister Robert Fico is the politician to have contributed to Slovakia the most as well as the least over the past few years. This finding stems from a poll carried out by the Polis polling agency between May 26 and June 2 on 1,603 respondents.
Most respondents, 24.8 percent, said Fico contributed the most to Slovakia. Former PM Iveta Radičová placed second with 23.2 percent, followed by Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák with 11.9 percent, MP Radoslav Procházka with 10.6 percent, former PM Mikuláš Dzurinda with 7 percent, and Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák with 6.2 percent. Most-Híd boss Béla Bugár was chosen by 4.4 percent of respondents, president-elect Andrej Kiska by 3.8 percent, chair of the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) Ján Figeľ by 2 percent, chair of the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) Pavol Frešo by 1.9 percent, President Ivan Gašparovič by 1.8 percent and MP Ivan Mikloš by 1.6 percent, the SITA newswire wrote.
About 9.4 percent of the respondents picked other politicians, while 23.5 percent did not choose any politician and 15 percent could not decide.
The poll also showed that Fico tops the list of politicians who have contributed the least, for which he was selected by 22.3 percent of the respondents. President Ivan Gašparovič was chosen by 10.7 percent of the respondents, chair of Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) Richard Sulík by 9.1 percent, former chair of the Slovak National Party (SNS) Ján Slota by 8.8 percent, and former chair of the Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) Vladimír Mečiar and Dzurinda by 8.5 percent each.
Respondents also said that Slovakia would be OK without the following political figures:
About 8.8 percent of respondents picked other politicians, while 5.1 percent did not choose anyone and 23 percent could not decide, SITA wrote.
