American artists work with Moldava children
16 Jul 2014 Flash News
THREE artists from the Dramatic Adventure Theatre from New York are currently running an interactive workshop for children and youths from the Budulovská Roma settlement in Moldava nad Bodvou.
Through the workshop, the artists work to discover hidden talent and uncover the ideas and emotions of the participating children. The main idea of the workshop is to support the personal development of children and youths from socially excluded communities, Slávka Mačáková, the director of the non-governmental ETP, told the SITA newswire.
“The intention is to give them self-confidence, and not be afraid of being proud about their origin,” Mačáková told SITA.
The American actors will spend two weeks with the children from the settlement, during which time they will put together a show composed of a number of short theatre performances reflecting on the daily life in the marginalised Roma community.
The show will premiere on July 18 at 18:00 in the CVrČek free-time centre in Moldava nad Bodvou, and will be open to the public, SITA informed.
Similar workshops have been taking place in different locations in Slovakia annually for three years now.
