Sieť: Hundreds applying for membership
17 Jul 2014 Flash News
Radoslav Procházka’s new party Sieť (meaning “Network”) has launched the process of adopting members, with 700 people already filling the application form that was made available on July 3, Procházka’s aide Martin Dubéci told the TASR newswire. According to Dubéci, the application forms show some interesting trends.
“Almost half the applicants (48 percent) is below the age of 34, while 80 percent of applicants have never been in any political party and most of them come from the regions of Prešov and Košice,” Dubéci said on July 16.
The Sieť preparatory committee will gradually process the applications and approach the applicants.
He announced the founding of the party on April 26 with a group of his fans, the SITA newswire wrote, adding that it was officially registered at the Interior Ministry on June 12. The party has been profiling right-of-centre. Procházka claims that he was prompted to found the party by his success in presidential elections (where he ended up third). He sees the ruling Smer party as their main rival, according to SITA.
