Judicial Council to elect new deputy chair July 21
21 Jul 2014 Flash News
MEMBERS of the Judicial Council are set to meet in Bratislava on July 21 to elect a new vice-chair, the Judicial Council has reported on its website.
The council will convene in a reconstituted form, as President Andrej Kiska recently replaced three of its members.
Apart from the vice-chair election, a change in the procedural rules is also on the agenda. The change should tackle the fact that former Supreme Court chairman Štefan Harabin, who was also automatically the chair of the Judicial Council, saw his term expire on June 22. As President Kiska has also recalled former Judicial Council vice-chair Mária Bujňáková, the council is now both without a chair and a vice-chair to preside over its sessions.
The Judges’ Council of the Regional Court in Banská Bystrica has proposed electing court chairman Milan Ďurica as the Judicial Council vice-chair.
