FESTIVAL:
THE FIRST concert of the Katedrálny Organový festival / Cathedral Organ Festival presents the titular organist from the famous Notre Dame church in Paris, Olivier Latry; on July 31 he will play at 19:00 in St Martin’s Cathedral in Bratislava on the organ made by Gerald Woehl. Works of Nicolas de Grigny, Jehan Alain, Jean-Louis Florentz, Olivier Messiaen and his own improvisations are featured. (Later, he will perform in Trnava – on August 1, in St Nicolaus’ Basilica, and in Dolný Kubín – on August 3, in the Church of the Exaltation of Holy Cross.) CLASSICAL MUSIC:
The international Youth Music festival (part of the Bratislava Cultural Summer) winds up between July 28 and 29, with competitions for orchestras, and choirs and two final concerts. On July 31, the Komorná Opera / Chamber Opera Bratislava performs pieces from operas, operettas and musicals.

THE ART OF THE ORIENT is an exhibition in Bojnice that collects 375 artefacts, items and exhibits from 15 Slovak museums, as curated by Katarína Malečková. It includes china, clothes, textiles, furniture and weapons dating back to 16th century. The items originate mostly in China, Japan, Turkey and India. The exhibition can be visited at Bojnice Castle until September 30, Tuesdays to Sundays between 9:00 and 17:00, for €5-€8 (including the castle tour).
