Heavy rain hindered traffic in Bratislava
4 Aug 2014 Flash News
A STORM that hit Bratislava on August 3 damaged 14 trolley-bus turnouts, flooded several roads and subways and tore off four registration tables from the city’s public transportation vehicles.
Around 50 professional and 30 volunteer firefighters helped the capital’s inhabitants to drain water from flooded basements and garages and make roads driveable, the Pravda daily reported.
Firefighters registered around 70 phone calls and carried out approximately 30 operations, the TASR newswire reported.
Storms with a similar intensity will probably hit central Slovakia on August 4, with their strength starting to diminish on August 5, meteorologist Eugen Lexmann told Pravda.
