The new state secretary at the Health Ministry is Mário Mikloši, appointed for the position on November 20 by the government, as proposed by the new Health Minister Viliam Čislák.

Mikloši, who until now has led the Health Section at the ministry, will replace Čislák who, in his turn, replaced the previous minister Zuzana Zvolenská. Zvolenská resigned in the wake of the scandal surrounding the dubious purchase of the overpriced computerised tomography (CT) scan for the Piešťany Hospital from the Medical Group company.

Mikloši, a urologist, is not a member of Smer, the TASR newswire wrote. He had already been heading a section at the Health Ministry between 2005 and 2006, and now since 2011. He also worked as ministry spokesman in 2004. Apart from his ministerial position, he still works as a doctor in a urology outpatient department.
