SOME 40 employees of the Forest Ecology Institute of Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) protested against the critical situation of Slovak science, destabilisation of workers and financial conditions of SAV as well as the continuous brain drain of young scientists.
“We want to draw attention to non-continuous financing of SAV as a whole and constant budget cuts,” Rastislav Janík, representative of academy union, told the TASR newswire.
Employees also harbour concerns that budget cuts will affect jobs at the already understaffed research institute.
The protest was also attended by employees of SAV’s Archaeological Institute and Botanical Institute.
