ALL pensioners who have paid social insurance contributions for at least 30 years will qualify for a minimum guaranteed pension as of July 1, 2015 that will amount to €269.50 per month and will be progressively higher with each additional year of one’s payments into the social insurance system, the TASR newswire reported on December 18.

This is the upshot of a bill that the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Ministry is planning to submit for inter-ministerial comments on December 19. The measure is part of the so-called “15 measures” introduced in September by the Government and is projected to cost €16.4 million in 2015 and €31 million in 2016.

In the same vein, people who have reached retirement age and paid the respective contributions for at least 40 years will be entitled to a minimum pension of €311.30. The ministry has worked out that the measure should concern 75,392 pensioners next year.

“People who’re currently retired and don’t receive the amount of the [proposed] minimum pension at present will also qualify for the minimum pension,” said the ministry’s State Secretary Jozef Burian,as quoted by TASR.
