THE POLICE launched an investigation into the excessive concentration of carbon monoxide which leaked on January 18 at the winter stadium in Čaňa, close to Košice, the TASR newswire reported on January 20.
“The investigator of the criminal department inspected the venue yesterday and made the first investigative acts, and launched a criminal prosecution regarding public threat,” Košice regional police spokesperson Alexander Szabó said, as quoted by TASR.
The reason for the gas leak is not yet clear.
Together 36 people were intoxicated, and 14 had to be hospitalised. Eleven people were sent to the hospital in Košice-Šaca district, with another three taken to the University Hospital of L. Pasteur in Košice. Most of them have already been released, the SITA newswire wrote.
