Penta acquires Polish FM firm Focus short PENTA, a central European investment group, has expanded its business in comprehensive administration and maintenance of buildings, i.e. facility management or FM, by adding cleaning services. In early February it announced its acquisition of a leading cleaning services provider in Poland, Clar System. By acquiring AB Facility in the Czech Republic in December 2010, Penta said it is pursuing a strategy of consolidation in the FM sector in central Europe. The transaction is subject to approval by Slovakia's Anti-Monopoly Office and its value will not be disclosed, Penta said on its website. 7 May 2012 The Slovak Spectator

Many firms are required to have energy audits INCREASING prices for all forms of energy, depletion of fossil fuel deposits and the environmental impacts of producing energy are all convincing countries and businesses to look for ways to improve energy efficiency. Results of post-Fukushima stress tests CHAMBER COLUMN THE DISASTER at Japan’s Fukushima nuclear power plant, after multiple meltdowns in the aftermath of an earthquake and a tsunami a year ago, spurred extensive testing of nuclear power plants across Europe, including those in Slovakia. Slovakia fails to adopt EU energy rules SLOVAKIA has not yet transposed the European Union’s so-called Third Energy Package into its national legislation after parliament rejected one of the key bills a month before the March 10 election. The deadline to adopt the necessary legislation was early March 2011 but Slovakia and seven other EU countries have not brought their national legislation in line with the EU regulations. In late February the European Commission gave Slovakia two additional months to pass the appropriate legislation and threatened to refer the matter to the European Court of Justice if this is not accomplished. 2 Apr 2012 The Slovak Spectator
