Agriculture Minister: Gabriela Matečná (SNS nominee)

Gabriela Matečná will come to the top post in the agriculture department from the Slovak Property Fund (SPF), where she was nominated by Smer in 2012.

Gabriela Matečná was born on November 28, 1964. She graduated from the University of Agriculture in Nitra, specialising in fytotechnology.

During her career Matečná worked at the Research Institute of Agroecology in Michalovce and in a number of companies dealing with projects for agriculture firms. In 2004-2007 she worked at the Agriculture Payment Agency and in 2008 she started at the Land Property Fund as the head of department of transfer and rent.

“I know agriculture from the east to the west of the republic,” Matečná said as quoted by the TASR newswire as she was introduced by the SNS.

In June 2014 Matečná’s name was mentioned in connection with a dubious transfer of land in Ivanka pri Dunaji near Bratislava.
