Cardiologists who were addressed by the Sme daily expect this scenario. However, the information that the prime minister suffers from a problem with narrowed arteries supplying the heart, published by the Denník N daily, is true.

Cardiologists approached by Sme Gabriel Kamenský and Jan Pirk agree that following a successful operation, Fico will be able to perform his post without any problems. Kamenský, the main cardiology expert at the Slovak Health Ministry, opined that Fico’s diagnosis de facto means acute heart attack. Pirk, a renowned Czech cardiologist, deems the potential surgery one of the most common and routine types executed daily.

Neither Fico and his family, nor the hospital officially confirmed or ruled out surgery. This is expected to be decided on by the end of this week, Sme wrote on April 21.
