This stems from the proposal of the Labour Ministry after the remaining tripartite entities (i.e. employers and trade unions) failed to reach an agreement on the matter by July 15. The proposal will be submitted for a tripartite session on August 15, with the ministry claiming that the amount is the result of an analysis of the social situation in Slovakia and expected positive developments of the country’s economy next year.

“The increase of the minimum wage by a gross €30 per month represents a year-on-year hike of 7.4 percent,” the ministry informed, as quoted by the TASR newswire. “Meanwhile, the trade unions would like to see the minimum wage at €442 per month and €2.54 per hour; and the employers did not submit any specific figure.”
