The National Criminal Agency (NAKA) detained Marek O., described as a henchman of Juraj Ondrejčák, head of the Piťovci organised crime group, during a raid on September 27 in Bratislava.

“We can confirm that NAKA detained in Lamač one person suspected of committing violent crimes,” Police Presidium spokesperson Michal Slivka said, as quoted by the Aktuality.sk website, adding that the investigator has proposed placing him into custody.

Marek O. has been active in local politics. He was a member of the committee for security and environment in Bratislava’s city district Lamač and also ran for the post of councillor. However, he is no longer a member of the committee, said Lamač Mayor Peter Šramko, as reported by Aktuality.sk.

The man was previously detained, within the operation Gondola aimed at members of the Piťovci group. The prosecutor at the time proposed taking him to custody, but he was eventually released.

Marek O. and Onrejčák are still listed in the business register as partners in the company Baristo, which went bankrupt in June, the TASR newswire wrote.
