"I can write a master's thesis in a week without a hitch," said the woman on the phone, who had called herself Katka in an online ad. "It can take longer if a thesis advisor has any essential remarks."

She is one of about 20 people who will write a custom undergraduate, master, or doctoral thesis for money on the Bazoš.sk website.

The price for a 60-page thesis, which is the required minimum for any master's thesis, ranges from €350 to €800. A client is promised confidentiality.

Writing a thesis for someone in Slovakia is not illegal.

One of the women selling theses, written by herself, even claimed on the phone that she is a self-employed person and can thus send a bill if necessary.

On the other hand, submitting a thesis written by someone else is a deception, and universities review it as a disciplinary wrong-doing. A student can be expelled for such an offense.
