Terms of Access to Free Services

Please read carefully. To register on spectator.sme.sk, you have to agree with the Terms of Access to Free Services below.

Article 1: Definition of basic terms

1.1. The free services represented by spectator.sme.sk

The free services represented by spectator.sme.sk include the access to the all issues of The Slovak Spectator weekly in its electronic form on the internet (with the exception of selected articles within the current issue), to all of its special publications made available on the internet, and discussion threads linked to all articles published at spectator.sme.sk, all on the basis of registration.

1.2. Provider

The provider of the services at spectator.sme.sk is the publishing house The Rock, s.r.o., a company recorded in the business register at the Bratislava I District Court as file no. 8140/B.

1.3. User

The user of the free services is defined as an entity (physical or legal) who truthfully completes the registration form and who promises to respect these Terms of Access to Free Services while using the spectator.sme.sk.

Article 2: Terms of access to free services

2.1. Users at the same time select a user name with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 24 characters (also referred to as a login) as well as a password to gain access to the system.

2.2. The provider pledges that the data obtained in the registration process will be used exclusively in relation to the services provided at spectator.sme.sk and that these data will not be provided to any third parties nor used for any purpose other than those directly related to the provision and use of the spectator.sme.sk services.

Article 3: Terms of use of information obtained at spectator.sme.sk

3.1. Users are permitted to use the spectator.sme.sk system only as a source of information for personal needs. Users are forbidden to use this information for other than personal purposes without the prior written consent of the provider.

Article 4: Copyright conditions

4.1. The contents of the spectator.sme.sk service fall under copyright law, and all authorship rights are reserved. Texts found at spectator.sme.sk may not be distributed in written or electronic form without the prior written consent of the provider.

Article 5: Changes and validity of Terms of access to free services

5.1. The provider is entitled to change the Terms of access to free services. Changes to the Terms of access to free services will be posted at least 15 working days before they take effect; the provider will inform all users of these changes by e-mail.

5.2. These Terms of access to free services will cease to be valid from the moment they are replaced by new Terms of access to free services.

5.3. Users may use their user names (login) and passwords only for their personal needs, and may not provide them to third parties. If a user provides a login and password to a third party, the provider is entitled to investigate the misuse and change the login and password, while in repeat cases the provider may cancel the contract with the user without warning and without being liable for damages.

5.4. By registering to use the spectator.sme.sk service users undertake to abide by the general terms set by the provider for the use of the spectator.sme.sk web site, including refraining from profanity, racist or inflammatory remarks, and otherwise behaving in an objectionable or hostile manner on discussion threads. Users who fail to abide by these conditions will be warned once by e-mail, and if the behavior is repeated, their login and password may be changed, and the contract cancelled without warning and without the provider being liable for damages.

5.5. The provider may cancel access to free services without warning to users whose registration had been previously terminated according to clause 5.4., and who activate new registration with a new username.

Article 6: Use of personal and transactional information

6.1. All information received by you from your use of the website will be used by The Rock, s.r.o. in accordance with The Rock, s.r.o. Privacy Policy.

6.2. Your comments including your name, city and country of origin published on spectator.sme.sk can be published in The Slovak Spectator or other products published by The Rock s.r.o. respecting The Rock, s.r.o. Privacy Policy.

6.3. The Rock s.r.o. may use your e-mail to inform you about news regarding new products, special offers, or subscription in accordance with The Rock, s.r.o. Privacy Policy.

Article 7: General conditions

7.1. The Terms of access to free services for the spectator.sme.sk service take effect as of December 3, 2007. The Rock, s.r.o. takes your privacy seriously. We use the personal and transactional information ("Personal Information") you supply to us in order to fulfill your subscription order. All information received by you from your use of the Site will be used by The Rock, s.r.o. in accordance with our "Privacy Policy".

On registration, you must provide The Rock, s.r.o. with accurate, complete registration information and it is your responsibility to update and maintain changes to that information on the applicable Site registration pages. The Rock, s.r.o. is entitled to rely on any information you provide to us. We will not disclose your data outside The Rock, s.r.o.
