Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that Slovakia will not officially recognise Kosovo unless its legal status changes, the SITA newswire wrote.
Following the Cabinet session on February 20, Fico stated that the unilateral declaration of independence was a mistake because it will create unwanted tension. He insisted that a solution to the situation lies with the UN Security Council and the European Union.
"Take Serbia's interests into consideration a little bit," he said.
Fico also reiterated his dislike for the planned US missile shield in Central Europe. Building bases in the Czech Republic and Poland will make no contribution to stability, especially if these activities are not part of broader international agreements, he said. SITA
