AN INSIDER source helping to prepare for the arrival of foreign mobile operators to the Slovak market confirmed for the SME daily that the UK's Vodafone and Spain's Telefónica were among the companies interested in coming to Slovakia.
The Slovak government on Wednesday confirmed that Slovakia's telecom authority, the Telekomunikačný úrad, would announce a tender for a third mobile operator by June 30 this year. The new company should receive 2G and 3G frequencies in the GSM and UMTS networks.
Other companies that might compete in the tender include the British Virgin Mobile and the Swedish TeliaSonera.
None of the companies named have so far confirmed they will participate in the tender.
