Media take in Sk7.9 billion in advertising in 2005

ACCORDING to estimates from the Association of Periodical Press Publishers (ZVPT), the Slovak media last year earned Sk7.9 billion (€210 million) from advertising.

For the first time in the last nine years, print media earned more than television broadcasters, the Pravda daily wrote. While publishers took 42 percent of the media income, or Sk3.3 billion (€88 million), TV broadcasters earned Sk3.2 billion (€80 million).

Of the Sk3.3 billion that the top 50 print media publishers earned in 2005, 80 percent went to the top 10 publishing houses, or Sk2.8 billion (€74 million).

According to the estimates, net advertising increased 11 percent year-on-year in print media, while TV broadcasters earned 4 percent more on an annual basis.
