THE NORTH of Slovakia continues to have freezing cold with rich snow cover for the third week in row. The Kysuce and Orava regions have twice as much snow as usual.

Lady Winter plans to continue her chilly ways this week too.

At the start of the week, the cold polar air will hit Slovakia again. A significant part of the continent is chilled out, and you can expect temperatures to drop down to -20 degress Celsius, in some places even -30.

Wednesday will bring sun, which will ease the freezing temperatures in the mountains, so the skiing should be absolutely perfect.

Apart from the generous dose of cold also expect a huge rush of adrenaline and fun at Donovaly ski resort. A "dynamic" party on February 11 will include four-wheel drive racing, air-boarding, snow-tubing, and snow-trekking. Hockey stars will take part in an exhibition match on the ice rink under Nová Hoľa.

Also, remember that the day of "all lovers" - St Valentine's - is approaching. Veľká Rača ski centre near Čadca invites you to dance the night away at its Valentine's Snow Party on February 11.

If you and your partner fancy it, come to Čierny Balog near Brezno, to take part in an unconventional wash-basin slalom of pairs entitled "Stará naskoč!" (Jump in, Old Bean!).

Wherever you go these days, you will find plenty of fun. Also, the skiing conditions are excellent across the land. See the table below.
