Fate of employees at Punch remains unclear

THE FATE of staff at the Punch Campus company, which makes components for the recently bankrupt LG Philips Displays, remains unclear, with its chiefs having laid off 550 of 700 employees as of January 31.

"Punch managers are considering solutions while awaiting developments at LG Philips Displays," said Augustín Pecko of the KOVO trade union. Punch chiefs will discuss the company's situation with Labour Minister Iveta Radičová on February 6.

Punch had made power supply units, deflection coils and electron guns for LG Philips Displays before it went bankrupt.
