Police nails alcohol gang

PREŠOV police rounded up a nine-member gang which bottled bootleg alcohol in brand-name containers and sold smuggled cigarettes. The gang made its "alcohol" from paint thinner and anti-freeze.

The police raid resulted in the confiscation of 25,000 litres of the toxic fluid, 70,500 fake alcohol labels, and 2,540 forged bottle seals, the SITA news wire wrote.

Eight gang members were taken into pre-trial custody.
