Reader feedback: Dangerous ground

Re: Bishops condemn intolerance of Islamic cartoons, Volume 12, Number 07, February 20 - February 26, 2006

František Tondra is on dangerous ground when he claims that despite "freedom of speech" .. "the symbols and expressions held most sacred by the people of the world must not be assailed."

No opinion or belief should be above criticism. Debate should be mature, of course, but taboos about religion are largely the root of today's problems and impede society's progress.
