ON MARCH 1, tougher rules for advertising tobacco products came into force in Slovakia.
As of this date, tobacco trademarks, emblems, and product names may not be used in ads, with the exception of ads in retail outlets.
Anyone found violating this provision can be fined up to Sk2 million (€53,620). The Slovak parliament approved the revision in October 2005.
