SLOVAK Defence Minister Martin Fedor visited Bosnia and Herzegovina on March 9 and announced that talks are currently underway to have Slovak soldiers take command of the guard unit on the Eagle multinational force in Tuzla.
If the talks are successful, the Slovak contingent will take over command of the unit as of June or July. This would also mean increasing the number of Slovak peacekeepers in the EU-commanded ALTHEA operation, where 35 Slovak soldiers are currently deployed, according to the SITA news agency.
