Election commission chosen by lot

EVA Garbiarova from the Slovak National Coalition party was chosen by picking lots as the chair of the Central Election Commission (ÚVK) for general elections on June 17.

Marcel Jakab of the reformed communist Democratic Left Party became the ÚVK's deputy chairman.

Political parties nominated a total of 21 people to the commission. The remaining 19 automatically became ÚVK members.

The commission will check to make sure that lists of party candidates meet legal election requirements by March 29, and register them by April 8 if they are satisfactory.
