Mazák named advocate general to Luxemburg

JÁN Mazák, the Chief Justice of the Slovak Constitutional Court, was named advocate general to the European Court of Justice in Luxemburg after the Slovak government approved his nomination.

Mazák should take the post in October this year.

The European Court of Justice resolves disputes and upholds EU treaties. The court's eight advocates general present opinions about the cases brought before the Court.

Slovakia has the right to nominate its candidate to the post as part of the existing rotational system of the EU member states.
