THE CONFEDERATION of Slovak Labor Unions (KOZ), whose open support helped Smer win 29.1 percent of the vote in the recent election, has made it clear it expects the party to fulfil its campaign promises.
KOZ boss Ivan Saktor expects Smer may not be able to fulfil all its promises, as it is now the only left-wing party elected to parliament, but is looking for at least some of them to be delivered.
For example, labor unions' negotiating position whould improve if Smer reversed the actions taken by the outgoing right-wing government to weaken them.
However, the KOZ admits Smer party chairman Fico might be forced to make concessions to the right, Hospodárske noviny wrote.
