Police unsure whether detained man is fugitive terrorist

SLOVAK police are unsure whether a man they detained along with several other immigrants from Bangladesh recently is a internationally wanted terrorist, as suspected.

Police spokesman Martin Korch told SITA that the police recently detained four illegal immigrants. During subsequent checks it turned out that the name of one of the detainees was on Interpol's internationally wanted list.

The special police unit to combat terrorism thus asked the Interpol branch in Bratislava to check the identity of the man to establish if he was indeed a wanted terrorist, or merely has the same name.

The Nový čas daily wrote that the detainee is being held in a police cell for asylum seekers in -Medveďovo.

"Do ľava," (to the left) I yelled, "Nie, do prava" (no, to the right), I gasped. "Dolšie," I screamed. "Nie, nie, horšie..." My Slovak girlfriend collapsed in laughter. Was it something I said?
