HZDS to nominate Veteška as parliamentary vice-chairman

THE NEW Slovak parliament will have four vice-chairmen, three of whom will be nominated by the new coalition and one by the opposition.

According to LS-HZDS leader Vladimír Mečiar, his party will nominate its vice chairman, Viliam Veteška. The nationalist SNS is likely to give its nod to SNS vice chair Anna Belousovová, who has said that she would like such a post. The name of the Smer-SD nominee is not yet known. Neither is the opposition’s, TASR wrote.

Coalition nominees are to preside over 12 of the 19 parliamentary committees, while the opposition's nominees will become the chairs of seven. Every committee will have two vice chairs and the opposition will nominate candidates for 14 committees.
