Further privatisation in question

THE NEW cabinet of Prime Minister Robert Fico has decided to halt privatisation or at least slow the pace of sales of state assets.

The privatisation of companies of strategic importance to the economy, a plan that the previous government approved in December 2004, will be cancelled and replaced by a different strategy, according to a statement by the Economy Ministry.

It is not yet known how much planned revenues the state stands to lose based on the new privatisation plans.
