Trade unions to cooperate on government program preparation

SLOVAKIA's Trade Union Confederation (KOZ) was given the chance to participate in the preparation of the government program of the new Slovak government lead by Robert Fico.

The union hopes to achieve tripartite talks on the government program before it is submitted to parliament, SME wrote.

The KOZ signed a cooperation agreement with Smer prior to the general elections and openly supported Smer during the elections.

KOZ leader Ivan Saktor said that among the union's priorities are changes to the Slovak Labor Code and to the law on collective bargaining. They are also interested in areas such as labor inspections and the minimum wage.

The unions said that they were happy with the outcome of the elections and agree with Smer that the new coalition with the SNS and HZDS offers the left wing Smer the best opportunity to realize its election program.

One nuclear shelter with a capacity for several hundred people now serves as a music club with suitable name Subclub (formerly U-club).
