The US government will monitor the observing of human rights of minorities in Slovakia said US ambassador to Slovakia Rodolphe Vallee, who met with Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič for lunch on July 13.
The ambassador also offered assurance that his country accepts the new Slovak government, which was democratically elected.
According to the SME daily, Gašparovič asked the ambassador to insure that his country also observes the activities of the representatives of Slovakia's minorities with respect to the country's stability.
The two officials also discussed the planned withdrawal of Slovak troops from Iraq. Gašparovič assured Vallee that the Slovak government would consult on the withdrawal with its partners.
