Reader feedback: Nasty smell of Spišiak dismissal

Re: "Police gets three new heads", Vol 12 No 31, August 14-20

As far as I'm concerned, these changes are not 'a breath of fresh air' but a nasty smell. Why, with Spišiak generally accepted to have done a good job against organised crime, is the new government, particularly some of its more senior and more experienced members, so keen to get rid of him?

"Do ľava," (to the left) I yelled, "Nie, do prava" (no, to the right), I gasped. "Dolšie," I screamed. "Nie, nie, horšie..." My Slovak girlfriend collapsed in laughter. Was it something I said?
