KFC starts in Trnava, plans beyond

RESTAURANT chain Queensway Restaurants Slovakia has confirmed that over the next few years it intends to open as many Kentucky Fried Chicken fast-food outlets as it can, while the first KFC restaurant in Slovakia is set to be opened in Trnava.

KFC will not be organized under the franchise system in Slovakia, the Hospodárske noviny daily reported. "According to a contract with Yum, the company that owns the KFC brand, we've got the right to open these restaurants in Slovakia," said Stanislav Szabó of Queensway Restaurants.

The company says that in the near future it wants to concentrate on KFC's growth on the market. At the same time, however, it does not rule out the expansion of Pizza Hut, for which it is also responsible in Slovakia. There are currently two Pizza Hut restaurants in Bratislava, and one each in Nitra and Košice.
