Revision to ban mafia promotion on TV

OPPOSITION Christian Democrat (KDH) MPs Vladimír Palko and Pavol Minárik submitted a draft amendment to parliament on August 22 to ban the promotion of the mafia in the country's electronic media.

"In the past, some media promoted people with a criminal background. We can't tolerate this," Palko, a former interior minister, said at a press briefing.

The Markíza TV station, Slovakia's most watched, recently aired a report on a member of the Takáč organized crime group in Bratislava, identified as Marián G., featuring his complaints of the difficulties of life on the lam.
